New student clinic to offer free dietary advice in Moreton Bay
People in the Moreton Bay region aiming to improve their health or sports performance can gain individualised dietary advice based on latest evidence when a new clinic opens at UniSC Moreton Bay.
University of the Sunshine Coast students from the Master of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition) program will offer free consultations at the clinic initially operating one day a week on campus at Petrie.
Clinical Educator Zara Nance said the students would be supervised by accredited practising dietitians at the UniSC Lifestyle and Performance Nutrition Clinic, opening Monday 24 February.
Miss Nance, who also works as a sports dietitian with the Dolphins NRL team, said the closely supervised students would provide tailored information to help clients meet their needs and goals.
'This clinic will be very valuable to anyone wanting to improve their dietary habits and sports performance or to learn more about how food can improve health and wellbeing'
“It will give UniSC students excellent clinical experience, including assessing clients’ personal and medical circumstances as part of the consultations.”
Self-referrals and other referrals will be accepted, with each initial one-hour consultation followed by a half-hour review.
Miss Nance said high public demand was expected so places would be limited. To register interest go to the UniSC webpage.
