Coral Futures Talks
Saturday 1 August, 10am
Free
To mark the opening of Coral Futures, join us for a morning of talks.
Hear from Hamish Sawyer on the curatorial thinking behind the exhibition, and from exhibiting artists Helga Groves and Rachel O'Reilly on their own practices and perspectives.
Working across painting, weaving and sculptural forms, Helga Groves reinterprets scientific data on sea temperatures and deep ocean currents using materials such as hand-woven fishing line to reflect on their impact on coral ecosystems.
Rachel O'Reilly's moving image work NORTHERN WATERS returns to the Great Barrier Reef's environmental campaigns of the 1960s and 70s, tracing layered histories of activism, industry and environmental care.
Everyone welcome.
